The Geography of Somewhere

impressions of an urban utopia

American cities and their people have long suffered the consequences of poor urban development practices. A sprawling suburban landscape of cookie-cutter houses, completely dependent on automobiles for transportation, has destroyed our communities, erased our identities, and inhibited the growth of our economies. The people of the Greater Los Angeles Metropolitan Area have been especially impacted by these problems due to the exploitation of our once prosperous populous. It is not our destiny to continue along this path, and honestly, we cannot afford to do so.

The Geography Somewhere is a show which asks the question: "What is an aspect of your ideal urban environment?". Each person has his or her own vision, but in the end, a city we can love is one that brings its people together and provides them with rich lives. As July comes to an end, so does this show. But, I urge you to continue to think about what changes you would like to see in Los Angeles and what things you already love about the city that you don't want to lose. I hope you have enjoyed the show, and I wish you all the best.
